Individual & family coverage

Marketplace plans made simple.

The ACA Marketplace offers powerful coverage options — but navigating plan types, subsidy eligibility, and enrollment windows can feel overwhelming. We break it all down and help you enroll in the plan that fits your life and budget.

What is the ACA Marketplace?

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) created the Health Insurance Marketplace — a place where individuals and families can shop for and enroll in private health insurance. Plans must cover essential health benefits, and many people qualify for financial assistance that significantly lowers their monthly premium.

Whether you're self-employed, between jobs, aging off a parent's plan, or simply looking for better coverage, the Marketplace may have an option that works for you.

You may qualify for financial help

Most of our clients pay less than they expect.

Premium Tax Credits

Lower your monthly premium based on your household income and size. Many individuals and families qualify for significant monthly savings — sometimes bringing premiums close to zero.

Cost-Sharing Reductions

Reduce your out-of-pocket costs like deductibles and copays. Available to those who qualify income-wise and enroll in a Silver-tier plan.

Medicaid & CHIP

If your income falls below a certain threshold, you may qualify for Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), which offer low- or no-cost coverage.

Understanding the metal tiers

ACA plans are grouped into four tiers based on how costs are shared between you and the insurer.

Bronze

Premium: Lowest monthly premium

Out-of-pocket: Highest out-of-pocket costs

Best for: Healthy individuals who rarely need care and want to minimize monthly costs.

Silver

Premium: Moderate monthly premium

Out-of-pocket: Moderate out-of-pocket costs

Best for: Most people — especially those who qualify for cost-sharing reductions, which are only available on Silver plans.

Gold

Premium: Higher monthly premium

Out-of-pocket: Lower out-of-pocket costs

Best for: Those who expect to use their insurance regularly and want predictable costs.

Platinum

Premium: Highest monthly premium

Out-of-pocket: Lowest out-of-pocket costs

Best for: People with significant ongoing medical needs who want maximum coverage and minimal cost-sharing.

When can you enroll?

Open Enrollment

The annual window — typically November 1 through January 15 — when anyone can enroll in or change a Marketplace plan. Coverage begins January 1 if you enroll by December 15.

Special Enrollment Period

Certain life events — losing job-based coverage, getting married, having a baby, moving, or losing Medicaid eligibility — trigger a 60-day Special Enrollment Period outside the standard window.

Medicaid & CHIP

Medicaid and CHIP enrollment is open year-round. If you qualify, you can apply and receive coverage at any time — no waiting for an enrollment window.
